 Kendriya Vidyalaya, RDSO, Lucknow was started as a project school in the year 1973 with make shift class rooms for the students in RDSO residential quarters. From this humble beginnng it has grown up today to be one of the largest Kendriya Vidyalaya in the Lucknow region. The inguration of the present building was done by the Late Prof. Nural Hasan then, Education Minister on 13th Nov 1976 and from the residential quarters the school shifted to the new building in the year 1976, adding strength to its rolls every year and attaining new hiegts of glory in both academic and curricular fields year after year. 

KVS has a four fold mission viz:-
To cater to the educational needs of children of transferable Central Government employees including defence and para military personnel by providing a common programme of education.

To pursue excellence and set the pace in the field of school education.

To initiate and promote experimentations and innovations in education in collaboration with other bodies like CBSE, NCERT, etc.

To develop the spirit of national integration and create a sense of “Indianness” among children.

KVS envisions itself a world class organization in school education committed to continually empowering teachers to actualize inside out synergy in students and enable them to fulfill futuristic societal, national and global needs and aspirations. (Explanatory note)
